Adaaran Prestige Water Villas bags World’s Leading Watervilla 2010

Adaaran Prestige Water Villas in the Maldives, run by Aitken Spence, won the award for the World’s Leading Watervilla 2010 at the World Travel Awards 2010. The awards, which are considered the ‘Oscars of the Travel Industry’, were held in London on 7th November during the 2010 World Travel Market.

Adaaran Prestige Water Villas was nominated with Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa [Maldives], Le Meridien Bora Bora[Fiji], Pangkor Laut Resort [Malaysia], Punta Caracol Acqua-Lodge [Panama] and Taj Exotica Resort & Spa [Maldives] for the “World’s Leading Watervilla” category.

In addition to the world award, Adaaran Prestige Water Villas won the award for Maldives’ Leading Water Villas for the third consecutive year. Competing against leading international brands, Adaaran Prestige Resorts won the Indian Ocean Water Villa Group for the second consecutive year, at the awards. The other nominees for this coveted recognition consisted of Anantara, Coco Collection, Constance Hotels, Kanuhara, Taj Hotels and Universal Resorts.

Adaaran Resorts is the Maldivian arm of Aitken Spence Hotels, which operates 25 hotels and resorts in four countries. Adaaran Resorts operates over 600 rooms in the Maldives in four islands including three properties with water villas: Adaaran Prestige Water Villas, Meedhupparu; Adaaran Prestige Ocean Villas, Hudhuranfushi; and Adaaran Prestige Vadoo. Other Adaaran properties are Adaaran Select Meedhupparu; Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi and Adaaran Club Rannalhi.

Business can be run only by teamwork – Mr. Upul

Chief Operations Officer of Adaaran Groups, Mr. Upul Peiris has said that a business can only thrive only by cooperation and mutual team work among the entities related to that particular business.

Speaking to Miadhu, Mr. Upul said that the economical recess that the world has faced recently “cannot be over come by mere individuals.” He added that despite a firm’s apparent size, [he] does not believe that such a self-sufficient company exists.

Furthermore, Mr. Upul said that he always looks to build relationship with the customers and taking them as partners of Adaaran group.

“I always meet the partners when time allows me. We discuss on building the relationship between us and them,” said Mr. Upul.

ADAARAN Resorts consists of Club, Select and Prestige boutique resorts that have won the highest accolades across the globe. Some of the awards include ‘Five Star Butler Service’ awarded by the Butler Association of England, and The World Travel Awards, namely the “Maldives leading water villas” for the past two consecutive years, 2008 and 2009 and the “Indian Oceans leading water villa group” in 2009.

Adaaran Prestige Resorts, Maldives, celebrate World Travel Awards

MALE – Adaaran Prestige Resorts celebrated winning the international travel industry’s Oscar as the “Indian Ocean’s Leading Water Villa Group” at a special ceremony held at the Adaaran Prestige Vadoo resort on 21 November 2009.

The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Dr Ahmed Ali Sawad and by representatives of the Maldives tourist industry, as well as by local and international tour operators and travel agents.

The award was presented to Adaaran Prestige Resorts at the World Travel Awards ceremony held in London on 7 November, 2009 during the 2009 World Travel Market. As well as being acclaimed as “The Indian Ocean’s Leading Water Villa Group” the Adaaran Prestige Water Villas at Meedhupparu won an award (for the second consecutive year) as “The Maldives Leading Water Villas.” Congratulating Adaaran on winning the awards, Dr Ahmed Ali Sawad commented on the benefits to the Maldives of the investment by Aitken Spence in tourism in the country. “The Maldivian brand is unique,” he said. “I extend my heartiest congratulations to Adaaran for helping to equip Maldivians with the skills to make it a world class product.”

The Chairman of Aitken Spence PLC, the Sri Lankan business group behind Adaaran Resorts, Mr. D H S Jayawardena, calling the occasion ‘a glorious event’ said: “Maldivians are very enthusiastic and proud and with hard work and discipline we can go from strength to strength to make Maldives among the best tourist destinations in the world.” Chethiya Perera, the CEO of Adaaran Resorts, stated that he believed the winning of the two awards was because of the encouragement given by the management of the company and the commitment and dedication of the staff.
